Drake Bay or Bahia Drake lies on the northern end of the Osa Peninsula in Puntarenas province. Probably one of the most well known destinations in the region, this tiny town by the bay is actually one of the most inaccessible places in the entire country. With a rich history of first being discovered by Sir Francis Drake in 1579 during his circumnavigation of the globe, Drake Bay is the gateway to visiting the Corcovado National Park as well as enjoying a plethora of other activities in the region. 

Drake Bay is a small town on the Osa Peninsula in this place you can find several hosting at very affordable prices such as Cabinas jade Mar, there are also several restaurants and sodas(small rest) that open for breakfast through dinner and you can find some small supermarkets where you can buy the basics.

we have 24 hours electricity. Long time ago Drake Bay had no electricity, all hotels operating with electrical generators which we could only enjoy a few hours of electricity usually at night, but about eight years ago we can enjoy all the benefits that the electricity has. Cabinas Jade Mar offers cabins with air conditioning and fans also have WIFI internet free in our office  so you can get in touch with your family in your country.

we have no banking services and ATMs in the area of Drake Bay. We encourage all visitors who wish to come to Drake Bay bring a fair amount of cash to enjoy all the things that Drake Bay offers. Despite this, our hotel offers the service to pay by VISA, MASTER CARD. Therefore, if you make a trip or a trasnportation with us you should not worry if you do not have enough cash to enjoy the aquatic wonders offered by Cano Island or the virgin forest that provides the Corcovado National Park, you can also  book the trasnportation in the comfort of our hotel.

Drake bay via bus or car  

  
There are several ways to get to and from Drake Bay , the most common transportis boat from the river sierpe right through the mangrove and  the sea the trip takes an hour.
Coming from San Jose or elsewhere in the country (check bus connections in San Jose) by bus should you take the bus at the transportation agency’s Tracopa (bus schedules below). You must buy a ticket to oalmar Norte time approx.  6 hours. On arrival in palmar should you head to sierpe where you need to take the boat. To get a sierpe you can take a bus (30 minutes from Palmar to Sierpe average cost is $ 1) or a taxi (20 min from Palmar to sierpe the average cost is $ 15), depending on time of arrival at palmar should know if you have to take taxi or bus. When you get a sierpe you must board the boat in either ports  restaurant las vegas or hotel Oleaje sereno.
if you come on your own car can make the same journey from San Jose or anywhere in the country by the Inter-American Highway or south coastal road and reach palmar and continue to sierpe. remember you must leave your car in a parking lot in sierpe, there are some places which are very safe and charge per day rest. las vegas, hotel oleaje sereno and other. 
 

Drake Bay by car 

 
 You can reach the hotel in Drake Bay in your own car you must take the American South or the coast after palmar you continue you’ll find a gas station called chacarita your right beside the gas station way to puerto Jiménez which reaches Rinco de osa one hour approx. In Rinco de osa you’ll find an intersection where you must take the road on your right and continue to Drake Bay one hours and half approx. 

Drake Bay by plane 

Also you can get to Drake Bay by plane from San Jose are two airlines that fly to the south coast. Sansa is located in Alajuela where the international airport is, this airline is a little more convenient for international flights because you do not have to do much moving as it is right next door. But if you want to have flight options are also nature’s air  that is located in the city of  pavas is the name Tobias Bolanos Airport. Upon arriving at Drake Bay from San Jose should take a taxi to any hotel in the area.

Puerto Jimenez to Drake Bay

 
The Osa Peninsula is a very large area so there are many hotels, another popular place to visit is Puerto Jimenez is a small town, in this place you can find many things like banks and government offices. But if you are in Puerto Jimenez and want to go to Drake Bay you can go by car to Drake Bay. Bus to the palma and in  the palma take a bus that takes you to Drake Bay (see bus schedule below).
